A hazard reduction burn in remote wilderness of the Grose Wald within the Blue Mountain World Heritage Area
Deliberately lit by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service 20120828, in case the forest burnt some time in the future.
The prescribed burn got out of control two days later as the forecast winds picked up and it became a wild bushfire anyway, threatening the township of Bowen Mountain.
Blue Mountains World Heritage is being managed by bushphobic arsonists who are driving regional fauna extinctions.
