This is a UK International Airport
Such crowding makes humanity a commodity, so wrongly destructive,
but then the British Government has reneged public transport accountability to Walker Guidelines.
Australia seems hell bent on trying to become more like overpopulated countries.
Why? The selfish guise of ‘economic growth’ by those who stand to financially benefit at others expense
.
Shortsighted ‘Airport Gate Immigration‘ ignores the triple bottom line cost of ‘Fully Settled Immigration‘ into any country.
What I mean by this is that the Growthist Lobby’s open door encouragement of immigration just to the airport, simplistically views a one-sided benefit – that more foreigners immigrating can only positively bring more foreign dollars and so add economic demand by numbers to a host nation. But it is as simplistic a view. A tour operator seeing tourists arrive and seeing them as tour revenue – only revenue, no cost.
But immigration is not tourism. Immigrants stay forever. Unlike tourism, immigrants represent not just revenue, but cost – Triple Bottom Line cost – a phrase that has been little used since the 1980s. ‘Sustainability‘ is more euphemistically malleable.
The economic, social and ecologial costs of immigration are selectively ignored by growthists, particularly government short-termism which just looks as quick fix employment – aka 457 Work Visas for the mining industry, too mean to invest in training the local population. Meanwhile corporate miner profits are at record levels. The banks are making a killing with more mortgage loans and their profits are soaring.
ANZ Bank’s new brand represents a bank “for the people”
The new logo has a central human shape representing ‘customers and staff’.
The marketing cost is $15 million to roll-out with the tagline “We live in your world”
Meanwhile, ANZ this month has sacked 1000 of its employees, and raised its mortgage rates, selfishly ignoring Australia’s Reserve Bank policy
All Australia’s greedy four big profit banks are set to sack 10,000 over the next year or so.
And 457 Work Visas keep being handed out to foreigners.
ANZ has become only for its CEO and its selfish shareholders.
.
National government economic numbers look good because demand is up with its multiplier effect on consumer demand, housing demand and numbers employed. But it twists the definition of unemployment. It conveniently ignores the society and liveability metrics and ecological health indicators – these are worsening.
So ‘Airport Gate Immigration‘ has these hoards arriving. Australia’s Immigration Department handballs all the costs to the states and urban local governments, where most of these immigrants mainly end up settling. ‘Migration to Australia has the potential to alter population dynamics, within and across cities and regions. In practice, almost 90% of new migrants settle in cities.” [Source: Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) 2010].
‘The population projections affirm the dominance of our largest two cities, Sydney and Melbourne, which are projected to each nudge seven million people at mid century and the very significant growth anticipated for both Brisbane and Perth, which are each expected to more than double in size over this period.’
[Source: ‘Contemporary Urban Australia’, Australian Government – Infrastructure Australia, ^http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/infrastructure/mcu/files/NUPBP_Ch3_Contemporary.pdf]
.
Look at the statistics for Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth – the main destinations of choice by most immigrants into Australia by far.
.
SYDNEY: “With a population that is expected to reach around 9 million by the year 2031, NSW will require additional housing, more jobs and a host of critical infrastructure to meet demand. Meeting the transport demands of that growing population is one of the biggest challenges facing NSW.”
[Source: New South Wales Government, 2011, Transport for NSW, ^http://haveyoursay.nsw.gov.au/faq/index/21]
.
BRISBANE: “Brisbane’s Lord Mayor says the city could support significant population growth if more investment was made in infrastructure and services.”
[Source: ‘Brisbane’s infrastructure can’t support growth: mayor’, ABC News, 20100722, ^http://www.abc.net.au/news/2010-07-22/brisbanes-infrastructure-cant-support-growth-mayor/915594]
.
MELBOURNE: ‘Melbourne Lord Mayor Robert Doyle said population growth within the capital cities was a big challenge to infrastructure and planning.’

.
PERTH: ‘Royal Automobile Club head of member advocacy Matt Brown says Perth’s road network is stretched and in need of urgent attention. “There is clear evidence that our road system is under considerable stress and it is struggling to cope with the traffic we already have, and with the population growing rapidly, these problems are going to get worse,” he said. “Perth’s freeways and highways are becoming carparks at rush hour and this is only going to get worse. Creating a better and more accessible public transport system is just one way to help solve the issue of congestion.’
[Source: ‘Traffic congestion adding to city’s growing pains’, by Kent Acott and Geoffrey Thomas, The West Australian, 20010124, ^http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/latest/8699963/traffic-congestion-adding-to-citys-growing-pains/]
.
.
And so in these places social and governent infrastructure has exceeed capacity – road congestion, public transport congestion, hospital waiting lists, propert demand is through the roof (which contiunues to make growthist property developers richer).
Past PM Kevin Rudd and his infamous ‘Big Australia Mein Kampf’:
…”I actually believe in a big Australia I make no apology for that. I actually think it’s good news that our population is growing”
The Labor national government still is pushing for Australia to have more than 35 million people by 2050.
.
Australia’s public utilities are overloaded (water, electricity, public transport, roads) and so major capital investment is being undertaken, robbing treasury resources away from locals who have long funded government coffers from decades of paying taxes. So the taxes now go into multi-billion dollar desalination plants in these cities. Electricity transmission infrastructure can’t cope with the population increases in Australia’s major capital cities. Traffic congestion is undermining Australian traditional lifestyles as more people have to dedicated more of their day commuting. The Australian Dream – owing a quarter acre block, has all but disappeared and now some growthists even curse it as a folly. Escaping to the backyard is now denied to most young Australians.
Try getting a job and see the queues!
Try finding affordable child care in an Australian capital city!
Try renting a flat in an Australian capital city!
Try buying a house in these cities where one’s parents live and like one’s parents once could. Children reaching adult age are forced to more away from their parents to more affordable areas, often to the country and interstate. Immigrant demand for urban housing is segregating established local families. The children are forced to move out of the cities their grew up in.
A typical Melbourne real estate auction
The beneficiaries of high property values are the wealthy
and the banks who suck massive mortages foir life out of stretched family incomes
.
Demand for housing is ruining urban amenity as more high-rise towers become imposed upon established locals. When new housing is built, the necessary public infrastructure is ignored by both the developer and national government – no new schools, child care, public transport, hospitals, etc. Local and state governments are unfairly expected to absorb the cost burden. Housing demand is also driving urban sprawl which is destroying arable land for vital food production. Sprawl is bulldozing ecology and reducing vital remnant habitat into smaller islands, with more species closer to the brink of extinction.

In outer Melbourne’s Keysborough this important ecology is threatened by urban sprawl
Ecology has no voice, no union, no political representation – because like all ecology before,
it is denied a right to exist, to have a say, to vote…like human slaves before.

.
‘Airport Gate Immigration‘ is like burning down you house to keep warm, or eating you arm off because you’re hungry. Traditional Australia is seeing death by a thousand immigrants.
‘Marvelous Melbourne’ it used to be called
Now its Mega Melbourne – quantity sucking out the quality
.
‘Fully Settled Immigration‘ on the other hand, is about the full accommodating of immigrants until their are fully settled into their new country. They have work, a home, education, and have happily integrated into Australian society. Fully Settled Immigration respects the full needs and full costs of immigrants, rather than saying: ‘ok, your own‘ as one exits the international airport for the city.
In Australia, history since World War II has shown integration generally takes at least two generations. This is a realistic timeframe for Australian Govermment’s immigration responsibility and accountability.
It is time for a moratorium on all immigration until the full settled cost of immigration is known, made public and accepted by the Australian national government and the Australian people. It necessitates nationalising all transport, housing, education, health and all the demands of immigrants in order to alleviate the immigrant cost burden from overstretched state and local governments. The growthist industries need to pay their way too with appropriate infrastructure levies and employment training levies for each on an immigrant per capita basis.
Melbourne’s Westgate Bridge
Now even the four-lanes can’t cope
Developers and governments keep building more sprawl in the west
Count the buses. Where’s the bus lane?
.
Take the regional Victorian township of Alexandra with its 12,000 residents for instance. For every 12,000 immigrants, the national goverment needs to replicate the same infrastructure that Alexandra enjoys in order to maining Australian social standards. But it needs to do this with no ecological footprint, because ecology is already disappearing with the 26 million already insatiable humans here.

Melbourne’s growing water supply for uncontrolled immigrants inflicted upon local country residents of coastal Wonthaggi.
This has been forcibly paid for by decades of Melbourne local taxpayers.
They stand to benefit nothing but cop population invasion from foreigners and government legislated destruction of Australian valued amenity.
This is the epitome of treason.
Yet Australia’s Liberal-Labor alternating time-swap governments say to Australians: cop it sweet, you are a tolerant society so be tolerant!

Globalisation is evangelised as the modern religion of humanism. But dare criticise it and so invoke the blind wrath of SBS devotees, and be cast out, branded a facist racist and persecuted as if a 1692 Salem witch – burned at the stake!
.
Yet the demise of local values, endemic plants, endemic animals and traditional peoples are under barrage from the human pathogen. The torrent of human numbers, morphing influence and power out of the hands of incumbent local populations into the hands of the immigrant, who arrives, breeds, colonises and usurps. At least Julius Caesar left after he came, saw and conquered.
Every immigrant (alien) who steps off a plane, every introduced plant (weed), every introduced animal (feral) compounds the human pathogen against endemic species and peoples. Our 21st Century has the most humans ever. Climate change is not the problem.
.
Beachhead immigration in Australia has prevaded local society into becoming a preferred choice of Labor MPs.
It’s no different to VicForests logging Potoroo forest habitat throughout Victoria’s East Gippsland and then introducing sheep. Then there is the bizarre argument of one breed of ferals proclaiming more rights over that of another.

‘Deer culling attracts wild dogs’
[Source: ABC, Wednesday, 20110427, ^http://www.abc.net.au/rural/news/content/201104/s3201322.htm]
.
‘Wild dogs are encroaching closer into urban areas of Victoria’s east Gippsland.
Leo Hamilton, retired agronomist and 40-year landholder, has lost $1,000 worth of sheep to wild dogs in two months at his fine wool enterprise on the outskirts of Bairnsdale.
He says a formerly minor dog problem is escalating, as shooters try to control feral deer, and their fallen carcasses attract other pest animal predators.
“Sambar deer is not the sort of thing you throw in the back of the ute and cart off. You are talking 300-400 kilos of meat,” he said.
“And you talk to the truckies and the truckies have got the same problem. If they hit one on the road, it is two and half grand to fix the truck.”
Mr Hamilton says wild dogs were controlled in the past, but the behaviour of the large dogs has changed from shy killers for food, to aggressive and savage attacks that maim sheep.
“What is different about this attack is they are not predictable. In the past, the dog has come in and eaten the sheep, but these are unpredictable as they come in at any time, don’t eat the sheep, they mutilate the sheep, they just play with the sheep and maul them.”
Mr Hamilton says the culled feral pest deer weigh 300-400 kilogram, making them too heavy for shooters to remove.
“Their attitude is that they disaster in a couple of days…but they disappear in a couple of days because the wild dogs and foxes eat them.”
He says the wild dog problem is escalating and growing as the sambar deer population spreads to the outer urban areas.’
.
.
.
No mention of the indigenous Potoroo in all that. The controlling ferals are debating inter-feral rights, while the indigenous are ignored, forgotten…relegated to history’s underclass.
.
The terror of invasion. The defeat of a people and their cultural annihilation – resigned, racial hopelessness in the face of an invader’s genocidal ‘business as usual’.
.
Dominant sociopolitical dogma embraces, prescribes and propagates globalisation as global benefiting from cultural sharing and harmonisation of wealth, living standards and life expectancy. Hence AUSAID http://www.ausaid.gov.au/ is hell bent on parting Australia’s wealth to Third World prolific breeders of humanity.
.
But Globalisation erodes all labour industries in societies that have embraced human values of a safe, healthy and meaningful workplace to those backward sweatshop societies that couldn’t give a damn. This is why Australia’s unionised manufacturing which hard fought for OH&S standards has succumed to off-shoring who couldn’t give a damn about their workers.
Cheap products are human cheap, they dismiss human labour as ‘cheap’ – cheap in cost and cheap in value – cheap and nasty. 99% of all products sold in K-Mart are made in China, where cheap labour has supplanted Australia’s manufacturing base.
.
Globalised competition can force a ‘race to the bottom’ in wage rates and labour standards. Profit-imperative employers and government employer-sympathisers brand it euphemistcally ‘trade liberalisation’. Free enterprise in globalisation spares small operators no chance against the market might of multinationals. Only the big survive.
Indigenous and national culture and languages are being eroded by the modern globalised culture – the United States imposes Sarbanes Oxley on the rest of the planet who wish to trade with it.
the tenet of globalisation

Currently ecological conservation efforts are being made to deal with the rabbit population on Macquarie Island in a bid to save and restore the indigenous fauna populations and their habitat.

Australia’s unsustainable reactive policy of coping with immigration is failing Australians, Australia’s environment and Australia’s cultural way of life.
The naive open flood gate policy does just that – floods thousands of new people onto an existing society, existing land use, existing resources, existing infrastructure and existing services. The federal policy has no sense of ownership of the impacts of immigration, it just issues the visas, savours its sense of international cred, but handballs the consequential problems to states, who don’t know what’s hit ’em.
Something has to crack. Sydney has cracked in many ways – housing affordability is shot, rail is rundown and over-congested, roads are at gridlock, health is technically insolvent, and every state government service is overstretched. Then we see the Cronulla riots and the drive by ethic shootings in Sydney’s outer south west. Ethnic ghettos plague Sydney and the cost of crime and of Australian gaols increasingly corrode and over-burden the community.
The problem is the skin deep immigration policy and the systemic absence of population planning. The Australian federal government or decades has been internationally irresponsible both to its existing population mix but also to new arrivals. Neither deserve its institutional neglect and the Australian government must be internationally held to account. It’s time for an holistic total lifecycle approach that looks at all the needs, costs, issues and desired outcomes of immigration on Australia’s society.
Clearly, the ghetto models in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth are recipes for civil unrest.
So perhaps a best practice approach should involve taking a look at one of Australia’s existing examples of a healthy regional community model in Australia in toto. Identify the region’s use and needs in terms of its land use, resources, infrastructure and services. Fully cost those for that region and then apportion this to the healthly population size that region supports.
Let’s suggest the Mackay Region in North Queensland. Go to the website:
.
“The region as a whole, is home to 143,000 friendly and welcoming people and the relaxed tropical city of Mackay has a population in excess of 80,000. It is no wonder the region can offer such an abundant range of services and facilities. Our vibrant developing community can proudly boast being a City where people can pursue a wide range of interests and lifestyles in a secure environment.”
OK, so let’s assume this is as good as an Australian region gets. So let’s evaluate this as a regional population standard. Then for every 143,000 immigrants into Australia, the equivalent full complement of community landscape, resources, infrastructure and services that blesses the Mackay Region is made available and constructed up front by the federal government. No compromise.
Perhaps the federal Government will then start to wake up to the true holistic cost of integrated immigration.

‘State governments not innocent victims of imposed immigration’
by James Sinnamon 20090404:
.
Tigerquoll, this is a fantastic idea.
However your words,
“(The federal Government) just issues the visas, savours its sense of international cred, but handballs the consequential problems to states, who don’t know what’s hit em”.
.
… may unintentionally imply that state Governments, particularly Queensland and Victoria do not, themselves, actively clamour for immigrants in spite of the serious problems that immigration causes as you have pointed out.
Peter Beattie, Queensland Premier until 2008 and Anna Bligh his successor have been playing a game with the Queensland public of bringing about Queensland’s population growth, but avoiding the political consequences of having done so. This is partially explored in my article “Exposing Queensland Government population growth duplicity” of 1 Apr 09.
One way, Beattie achieved this was to publicly take a number of different, and mutually contradictory, stances on population growth. On some occasions he would simply say that population growth was nothing but wonderful (see, for example, Queensland Government advertisement of 8 Dec 05).
On other occasions he would act like a a kind of welcoming good-natured host for Queensland’s of interstate arrivals, although one working his hardest to stay ahead of the challenges that he had not sought himself.
On yet other occasions, he would attempt to evade political responsibility for long hospital waiting lists, under-resourced schools, traffic congestion, electricity blackouts, the water crisis by correctly (up to a point) pointing outing out that they were caused by population growth. (In reality his own astonishingly inept handling of his responsibilities seriously compounded the problems caused by population growth. Ex-Labor MP Cate Molloy has provided evidence of his complete failure to do anything about the looming water crisis until it was almost too late as just one example.)
So, in fact, state governments are not the wholly innocent victims of Rudd’s reckless program of high immigration.
Many in the third world have better served by corrupt dictators than the people of Australia are now being served by its state and federal leaders.

Australia’s federal immigration policy is unsustainable.
It’s open door flood gate policy continues to invite too many human hoards through Australian airports, hand-balling the consequences to overwhelmed states and local councils.
Each Australia state government is then forced to somehow absorb the human demand for housing, health, jobs and schools; wear the rise in living costs, deal with the social congestion and problems, and be forced to degrade more ecology to make way for the human impost. Most urban local councils have exceeded budgets trying to deliver services to the new arrivals. The only beneficiaries are the property developers, and big business that rejects responsibility to invest in local vocational skills training. Scream ‘skilled labour shortage‘ and our beholden populist government will raise the flood gates to invite more immigrants.
Rudd’s ‘Big Australia‘ was and remains ivory tower insular and is down right treason.
There is nothing complex about the problem. The root cause is federal immigration policy allowing and inviting hoards of foreigners to further pressure Australia’s resources..
The problem is the Australian Government, be it Labor or Liberal; encouraging the human influx under a narrow ‘skilled labour shortage’ stop gap justification but in denial of the direct broader and longer term economic, social and ecological demise, degrading Australia’s society and economy and remnant natural landscapes.
Immigration which ignores local carrying capacity is just population deck chair shifting of one country’s over-breeding habit to another. Shifting human over-breeding just shifts the human problem, but it doesn’t solve global over-breeding. If enough of the hoards keep arriving and breeding, the systemic problems of overcrowded, over-breeding nations will become Australia’s.
Human containment and sterilisation is the only ethical solution to a seven billion human plague. Unethical solutions exist and will become options while ignorant people remain ignorant. War, genocide and famine are some of those other less savoury options of history that keep repeating themselves due to recurring selective ignorance.
